You read that correctly, the supercar darling of Mercedes and AMG is dead. Fear not, fans of speed and noise, as the car has now been replaced by the SLS GT. While it has  a new name, this is essentially just a mid-cycle refresh. The “new” car uses the same familiar 6.2-liter AMG V8, but power has been bumped by 20 horses bringing the grand total to a monstrous 583. Torque remains unchanged at 479 lb ft. The  interior has also seen some upgrades, as Mercedes is now offering a Designo style package that covers the cabin in ony the most sumptuous leather Mercedes can get its hands on, with a diamond stitch pattern to boot.

To differentiate the new car, there are new darkened lamps for the front and back, some extra black trim around the outside, and the car is going to be badged, inside and out, with the GT lettering. The suspension has also been given the once over and now features higher damping rates and stiffness, which should translate to a more planted trip around the track, but could mean a more uncomfortable ride.

The car will be offered in roadster and coupe variants, and just like the lesser SLS will be only be offered with the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. No pricing information has been released, yet, but it is slated to go on sale later this year in November.
